An Ode to P-Words—My Attempt at a Palempsest

(Set to the tune of Dear Prudence by the Beatles –sort of)

#AtoZChallenge 2021 April Blogging from A to Z Challenge letter P
Dear Prudence,
Perhaps this palimpsest by poet Peabody Roo,
will illicit your passion to come out and play.

Dear Prodigy,
With persuasion, practice, and personal life perspective
you’ll greet the brand new day.

Photosynthesis and paperwork abound
Paint the world Platinum blue
It’s picturesque and phenomenal and so are you.

Dear People, persistent people, we need some positivity.

Dear Philandering Philanthropic Philadelphians,
You’re so filled with pride.
Dear Polygamous Pirates who need people skills,
what are your philosophies of life?

Pussywillows, purple durple pine trees
Policing, power, protests, peace.
Dear Pterodactyls, was your purpose to die?

Promises, politics, procrastination,
Policies, principles, prescription medications,
Perfectionism is false. Period. Perseverance, patience.

Dear Pets, Pigs & Porcupines, maintain personal hygiene please.
Dear Pleasant Hope, with potholes and personalities,
you’re my hometown queen.
Breakfast served on paper plates:
pretzels, papusas, Pepsi, and peanut butter pancakes.

Dear Primrose, don’t be so polite. Don’t shy away.
You’ll get more privacy if you come out and play.

Dear Penis, I’ll call you Poppycock. With the
Pythagorean theorem you greet the day.
Sometimes polycarbonates and prose are blue
Pong and poetry are lyrical and so are you.

Dear Priorities,
Professionalism, punctuality, and political correctness
don't make us free. Won't you come out and play with me?
